Statement of Faith

  • God

We believe in one holy, living and personal God, who is perfect in truth and love, omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent and eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the creator of all things and is the sovereign Lord of the world and of history. In love, He revealed Himself in creation, in the Scriptures and supremely in Jesus Christ.

  • Jesus

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He is both fully God and fully man. We believe in His sinless life, miracles and teachings. He died in our place on the cross to redeem us from sin and death. He rose from the dead and now reigns as the resurrected Lord and King. He will come again to establish His kingdom of righteousness, love and peace.

  • Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who is a divine Person within the Trinity. He was sent to glorify Christ; to regenerate, indwell, guide, teach, empower, and sanctify believers; and to convince the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgment.

  • The Bible

We believe that Scripture, in its entirety, is the inerrant and inspired Word of God. It is God’s divine revelation that carries the full weight of God’s authority.

  • Creation

We believe in the Genesis account in which God created the universe by His word. All creation was declared to be good, revealing the Creator’s power and divine glory. We believe that God is still sustaining the universe by the power of His word.

  • Humanity

We believe that humanity is created in God’s image for God’s glory, distinct from all other living creatures and designed for eternal life. Humans were created to love God, to love their neighbors, and to rule over and care for creation as God’s stewards.

  • The Fall and Sin

We believe that the whole human race fell in the fall of the first Adam. In addition, all of us have participated in willful rebellion and sin against God. Humanity has incurred physical, spiritual and eternal death, which is separation from God. All human beings are born with a sinful nature and are powerless to save themselves. The fall of humanity corrupts every part of human nature, of the created order and of human culture at large.

  • Salvation

We believe that God, in order to reconcile us to Himself, sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die in substitutionary atoning death on the cross. His perfect righteousness is imputed to believers who repent of their sins and trust Jesus for their salvation. Therefore, it is only through faith in Jesus Christ and not by works, though works will be evident in the life of the believer, that we are saved. We believe that it is solely through His grace, not by our own merit, that we receive the gift of salvation.

  • The Church

We believe in the universal Church, which is the community of all true believers for all time, expressed in local communities around the world. The Church is the body of Christ – the community of those who believe in the Lord Jesus. Christ, who established the Church is the Head of the Church. The church is called to submit to the authority of Holy Scripture and we to the authority of the church. Christ commands the church to further God’s kingdom on earth.

  • World Missions and the Kingdom of God

We believe that we are called to expand God’s kingdom by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth by word and deed; by caring for all of God’s creation; and by actively seeking the good of everyone as we engage cultures, redeeming them with the love and the wisdom of God.

  • The Second Coming of Christ and Eternal Life

We believe that Jesus Christ Himself will return visibly, publicly, and historically, in power and in glory, to establish His kingdom, bringing about final victory over sin, death and Satan. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal damnation of the unrighteous and the eternal joy of the righteous.
